President Zourabichvili Tours Bambino Gesu Children’s Hospital, Talks of Training of Georgian Medical Staff

President Salome Zourabichvili secured an agreement with the Bambino Gesu Children’s Hospital of the Holy See in Rome to let Georgian medical staff and biologists receive training there for several weeks and to receive the Hospital’s assistance in rare medical cases and pediatric diagnoses. The agreement was reached in the framework of the President’s official visit to the Holy See.

The President stated,

“It is very good news for us. I visited the Bambino Gesu Children’s Hospital’s high-tech science research laboratory, one of the most prominent in Europe, working primarily on rare and oncological diseases in children. They expressed readiness to cooperate with Georgia in all directions. First, our nurses and doctors will be trained. They will be allowed to participate in laboratory work and research.

“They are also ready for diagnostic cooperation in extremely rare cases. It is very important for us to help our children. The director of the hospital will arrive in Georgia, we have agreed on that and we will sign a memorandum then. This is very good news for everyone and I, personally, am very happy.”

The President visited several laboratories engaged in high-tech research and diagnostic-genetic activities, including immunotherapy and cell therapy.

At the invitation of the President, Mariela Enoc, President of the Board of Directors of the Bambino Gesu Children’s Hospital will visit Georgia.
