On 27 November, the concert dedicated to the music of Georgian composer Giya Kancheli took place at the Church of San Giorgio in Velabro.
The pieces of Giya Kancheli were performed by two Italian musicians, the pianist Alessandro Stella and the flutist Mauro Conti. During the concert the guests first witnessed the new opera "Ninna Nanna per Anna", created for flute and piano.
The concert, organized by the Embassy of Georgia to the Holy See, started with opening remarks by the President of the Pontifical Council for Culture, His Eminence, Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi. Maestro Nicola Sani gave a short speech on the music of Giya Kancheli.
The event was attended by members of the diplomatic corps accredited to the Holy See, representatives of the Roman Curia and other guests.
